Roald Dahl on Film reaches Europe!

Thank you for the opportunity we had to take part in the project which has enriched our regular teaching programme’ Dragana – Serbia

While Roald Dahl on Film season might be coming to an end, it is still growing like James’ titular peach!

Roald Dahl on Film has now reached mainland Europe. Activities using Roald Dahl materials and resources have been organised in classrooms across Spain, Slovenia and Serbia.

Hana from Film Hub Wales hosted presentation at WICKED:16 Festival to the Youth Cinema Network, made up of around 40 European festivals and media training representatives. Following this and a great deal of inspiration from the Roald Dahl on Film events at Wicked Wales, the Oxford University Press postcards and Chapter Education Pack have been exported across the continent to help students learn about Roald Dahl and his films.

Four partners from the Youth Cinema Network YCN started work together on a Roald Dahl on Film international project:

SERBIA– Gornji Milanovac Cultural Centre,Takovski Ustanak and Kralj Aleksander schools (led by teacher Dragana Stefanovic)

Students aged 7-10 at Kralj Aleksander l elementary school in Gornji Milanovac, Serbia used Roald Dahl on Film materials to inform activities based around Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. The students were delighted as some of them had already read the book in Serbian!

At Takovski Ustanak Grammar School in Gornji Milanovac, 15-17 year old students have been taking selfies the Oxford University Press cards, as well as creating dream jars and posters celebrating Roald Dahl and Wales.

What’s more, these students have produced fantastic creative writing on the theme of “My Dream Factory” – have a read.
