The following exhibitors received project support from FHW in 2015/16 for their ‘Welsh Film’ screenings/events:

Strategic Projects:

  • In April 2016, Wyeside Arts Centre held a community arts festival called Wyeside Inside Out. The festival celebrated creativity, participation, cultural heritage and diversity in the rural area, which is underserved by commercial opportunities. As part of the festival, Wyeside received Welsh Film support to screen a selection of Welsh-made feature and short films. These were Sleep Furiously; My Little Sister (Who Happens to Have Down’s Syndrome); We the Mountain, We the Sea; Gwesyn; Bryn; Polishing the Welsh Stone; Celf; Rural Media Co: Shorts; Ffilmic shorts. Many of the films included Q&As with the filmmakers and programme notes allowing audiences to engage with the films that are relevant to their area.
  • Caught by the River Teifi festival showed selection of Welsh films including welsh archive titles and held a film focus on director, Keiron Evans, screening a selection of his films including Kelly + Victor and Vashti Bunyan: From Here to Before.
  • Borderlines Festival of British Cinema included a programme of Welsh films including new release titles Black Mountain Poets and Welsh language film The Passing.
