Youngun

By FHW Marketing

SYNOPSIS

Youngun examines the root causes of violence and the scars left in its wake. For Dante, a young African-American father of two from East Oakland, staying safe is a constant preoccupation. This character-driven film chronicles the dramatic arc of Dante’s life from a traumatic birth through to interviews with power-holders in which he personally interrogates the discriminatory structures of society. This intimate and compelling story reveals the pervasive impact of violence on Dante’s life and community and his daily struggle to survive, while being over-policed yet under-protected.
