SYNOPSIS

Miner's daughter Olwen Williams leaves her small Welsh village and her sweetheart, Tom, to take up a singing scholarship, and eventually marries a collar-and-tie man. Tom has ambitions of his own and becomes manager of the colliery.

 

WELSH CONNECTION

  • Set and shot in South Wales. The Electric Theatre cinema in Port Talbot served as a makeshift studio. Other scenes were shot on location in Abergwynfi.
  • Most of the cast consisted of amateur actors drawn from the local area.
